Product descriptionWelcome to Tinkuy PeruTinkuy in Quechua means "meeting" and in our store Tinkuy is where we gather for you the highest quality garments made with the most important natural fibers of Peru: alpaca and cotton. Our commitment is to travel through Perú looking for the best quality of Peruvian Alpaca and Cotton garments, with beautiful designs and taking care to be fair in our relationship with our artisans and suppliers. Alpacas: Treasure of the IncasThis beautiful animal is only found on the heights of Perú and Bolivia The Alpaca is a camelid native to the Peruvian Andes, it lives over 4,000 meters above sea level and has the fiber with the greatest chromatic variety that exists in the world of weaving, which ranges from white to black, through brown and gray. Luxury FiberPure Peruvian alpaca wool is one of the most precious natural fibers that exist, comparable only to cashmere, angora rabbit or mohair; it is soft and silky. It is considered a luxury fiber because it is as soft as cashmere and has the sheen of silk. It is as durable as wool, and fleece is extraordinarily light and warm; in fact, alpaca wool is reported to be five times warmer than sheep's wool. This is because the fiber is semi-hollow and crimped, which creates microscopic air pockets that are ideal for insulation. Our CommitmentAt Tinkuy we are seriously committed to our environment and our artisans: We care about the alpacas during the shearing process. We work directly with artisan families giving them fair treatment. Take Home The Luxury of Authentic Alpaca Wool Alpaca wool is one of the most precious natural materials, sourced directly from our trusted partner farmers in Peru. Its organic fibers are lightweight, durable, cozy, and hypoallergenic, making it a fantastic clothing choice for those with sensitive skin. Similar to cashmere, it’s relatively soft to the touch and the material’s semi-hollow structure can help regulate your body temperature in warm and cool climates.
Product Specifications HypoallergenicAlpaca wool does not cause allergies because, unlike sheep's wool, it does not contain lanolin (a wax that is highly absorbed by the skin and is present in sheep animals). However, as alpaca wool is an animal fiber, its molecular structure is very similar to human hair and contains microscopic keratin flakes that can cause itching in some skins, also influenced by the humidity of the environment. If this occurs, we recommend washing the garment with cold water and shampoo, rinse and soak in water with conditioner for 30 minutes, rinse, place on a towel and roll up without wringing to remove excess water and leave to dry in the shade on a dry towel. Increased comfortOnly absorbs 2% of water in a humid environment, this property allows easy removal of moisture from the body and is pleasant to wear. Better dimensional stabilityThe manufactured garments do not lose their original shape after washing. Simple Garment CareCan be washed by hand or machine in delicate clothes, with mild soap and water at less than 30C. It is recommended not to wring and dry on a flat surface. Balance Between Cost & QualityA garment woven with 100% alpaca wool is expensive and out of reach for many. This is why we have obtained a combination of fibers allowing us to offer you a product of excellent quality at a good value. Our products are made with a high-quality blend of alpaca wool (70% alpaca, 30% wool), made in Peru by our artisans. |
